The natural learning path along the water channel Rake starts beside the water pump 'Kamšt', at the yard in front of the Joseph Shaft. For 350 years the water channel Rake supplied water to the large wooden water wheel of the water pump 'Kamšt' which was used for pumping pit water out of the mercury mine, and it also drove smaller water wheels used to drive mine forges, joiner's and other workshops machinery. Nowadays the path along Rake is a popular walkway where a very rich flora and fauna, as well as interesting geological peculiarities of the region can be observed. Extremely interesting is also the lake Divje jezero (Wild lake) – 'a museum in nature': in the lake you can find trouts, the olm (proteus anguinus), and around the lake shore there are over 150 species of spermatophytes, among others the Primula Carniolica and some other endemic plants. A walk along Rake is recommended to school groups (activity days in the natural environment), as well as to tourists and recreational sportspeople.
