|
Cultural heritage of the region of Idrija and the story of Idrija lace will be presented to you in a very interesting way. The trip will start with a guided tour of the town centre, so that the story of Idrija's past and contemporary life will be familiar to you and you will see the main attractions of the oldest mining town in Slovenia.
Then you will visit the mining castle Gewerkenegg, visit the museum exhibitions and attend a presentation of making Idrija lace. If you will feel like it, you will be able to try lace making yourselves, too.
Most of all, you will be able to buy yourselves a piece of lace or two.
After this interesting experience, you will walk to the miner's house in the street Bazoviška ulica, which was renovated but preserved in its original form and style – there you will see how typical miner's families lived in the late 18th century.
After lunch with typical local culinary specialities – idrijski žlikrofi and others, you will continue your trip in Spodnja Idrija, a small town about 5 km away from Idrija.
In Spodnja Idrija you will first visit the parish church of Our Lady of Assumption with frescoes of the famous cartographer and Klavže-constructors Jožef Mrak, dating from mid-18th century.

The other venue you will visit in Spodnja Idrija is the magnificent rural manor, a former farmhouse dating from the year 1377, nowadays a luxury hotel Kendov dvorec*****.
