The way into the core of the Idrija forest (Pot v osrčje idrijskega gozda)

The route leads through the centre of the Landscape park Zgornja Idrijca all the way to the forest Trnovski gozd, past the water barriers Klavže (Slovene Pyramids), the lake Divje jezero, the dell Smrekova draga, the ice cave Paradana and the primeval forest Bukov vrh. A part of the way to the Klavže is appropriate for all cyclists, while the other ways only suit advanced cyclists due to numerous ascent and descents, macadam roads and lengthy distance.

The route leads you around the plateau of Črni Vrh (Godovič – Zadlog – Črni Vrh – Javornik – Špik) which is full of Karst phenomena (caves, precipices, disappearing streams, etc.) and the settlements are strewn around. The largest village of all is Črni Vrh.

Route on the Vojsko plateau

The plateau is situated on the northern edge of the Trnovski gozd. The village Vojsko is the largest settlement on the plateau and at the same time its centre. Vojsko is also known as the highest village in the region of Primorska.
Cycling along the route offers you a great many viewpoints of the plateau itself and of the vicinity. There are also many interesting points and sights along the route – the wild stream Gačnik, the military burial place Vojščica and the Partisan printery Slovenija.

The smugglers' route on the Ledine plateau
|
|
On the passage between the regions of Primorska and Gorenjska there is a high plateau with several small villages, among which village Ledine is the biggest. The cycling route leads you around the plateau (through villages Gore, Ledinsko Razpotje, Ledine and Mrzli Vrh). Its name comes from smuggling (also called contraband) between the Kingdom of Italy and Yugoslavia, because the national border was set right here during the years between the two world wars.
